Note
{Rae Notes: p4} John Smith married Jean Muir and built a house for himself. This house was in Main Street West and stood opposite the Church on the south side of Main Street. The house was in appearance like Temple Darvel with a thatched roof. It had and an entry(?) way from front to back, and on the left there was a four roomed shop, for John Smith was a weaver. On the right was a kitchen with two beds. These beds had shutters which were drawn together during the daytime. There was a spence, small room beyond the kitchen.
