History of Darvel: p38 "describes how many looms were not productive anymore , they had dropped from full employment 1870 to only 226 of over 600being productive. "In passing I might add that in those far off days Hugh Smith and John Lawson were the crack munters, ...." I would assume this is the Hugh he is referring to. with John Lawson married to his sister Agnes |
