Lady Isobel Gathorne-Hardy

Aunt Kathleen Notes

I (Gronum Smith) think she has name wrong 1) if signed in 1902 she would not have been born 2) according to wiki it was her father who was in the Loval Scouts and served in South Africa during Anglo-Boer War https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Gathorne-Hardy and clearly Lady Isobel was the Queen's Lady-in-waiting https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Isobel_Gathorne-Hardy

Also states here that she visited Balmoral - Aliwal North

https://archivesearch.lib.cam.ac.uk/repositories/18/archival_objects/2038602

Lady Gathorne-Hardy served in the Royal Household as a Woman of the Bedchamber to Queen Mary during 1914 to 1920. In 1945, King George VI appointed her Dame Commander of the Royal Victorian Order for her service to the royal family.

"Auntie Fanny (Nurse) accompanied Queen's Lady-in-Waiting to South Africa -Lady Elizabeth (should be Isobel) Gathorne-Hardy - who's husband (according to Aunt Kathleen) was one of the Lovay's Scouts.

Her name appears 1902(?) in the Guest Book at the hotel (Balmoral) in Aliwal North below those of Derby and Lovat (both Lords).  Hughie wrote "This my aunt still going strongin Canada 1918" I (Kathleen added "ditto" in 1936! I think Johanie Park was the aged inkeeper.
